Game of Thrones’ could get an animated spin-off series
Game of Thrones could be getting an animated spin-off on HBO Max. An animated Thrones drama aimed at adults is currently in the early planning and development stages. Although no firm deals have yet been made.
The original series came to an end in 2019 with its eighth season. HBO has since been working on new projects within the Thrones universe with writer George RR Martin, who wrote the fantasy novel series A Song of Ice and Fire which the TV show was based on.
The prequel series House of the Dragon has been officially greenlit. With ten episodes due at some point in 2022.
The show, which is set 300 years before the events of GoT, will star The Outsider actor Paddy Considine as the “warm, kind and decent” King Viserys I. While Doctor Who star Matt Smith has been cast as Prince Daemon Targaryen, King Viserys’ younger brother. Olivia Cooke and Emma D’Arcy have also been cast as Alicent Hightower and Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen respectively.
House of the Dragon will follow the rise of House Targaryen – the house of the Mother of Dragons Daenerys. Through Aegon’s Conquest and the Targaryen civil war, so we can expect some epic family clashes.
We definitley have to watch the space for more developments on this Game of Thrones animated spin off.
